The verdict is no MCL or ACL issues (awesome) yet my IT Band, and stir-up muscles aka Fibularis muscles are inflamed. Apparently I was informed that most women are heavy quad dominate and don't fire their hamstrings and glutes enough. I am working with a trainer at No Limits Conditioning to help stimulate those muscles fibers. I was also told that the pathway between my femur and and tibia/fibula was smaller than normal? Anyone have similar issues? If it was any other marathon I probably wouldn't risk it but C'mon its the NYC Marathon!!!
What do you do for self-care? I have been incorporating R.I.C.E which means Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate during inflamed periods and then practicing massage cupping and Manja Kizhi post inflammation to loosen up the quads and IT Bands.
