I had a lovely start of the New Year with my husband with a quick getaway to Portland, Maine. Even though it was freezing, we really enjoyed the town and look forward to going back in the Summer when it is a tad bit warmer;)
Did you decide to make any small or big changes for 2015? I have my list but the most critical ones are my day to day self-care routines. My role as a therapist is to help others slow down, relax and see the benefits of taking time for themselves. Sometimes as care-providers we tend to forget to practice what we preach so I had to wipe the slate clean and start re-focusing on taking better care of myself so I can do all of the things that I want to do in this lifetime and to be the best therapist I can for my clients. So what does that look like?
In Ayurveda, health is when mind, body and spirit are all in harmony. I feel best when I am connecting and helping others (my work, volunteering, meeting new people, ), when my body is moving and in motion (yoga/exercise, walking) and spending time in nature (hiking, beach, animals). So this is my 2015 self-care routine:
1. Practicing my Dinacharya routine. Get a massage more often!!!
2. Working with an awesome personal trainer who gets me.
3. Pursuing my education in Ayurveda to offer more to my clients.
4. Volunteering and exploring my spiritually.
If anyone personally knows me I have been wanting a dog FOREVER! There was an open house this past weekend (first picture above) at the Pooch Hotel in West Newton ran by Last Hope K-9 Rescue http://www.lasthopek9.org/. Check them out- They are a great organization and had a great turnout with lines out the doors. I am hoping to have a fur baby by the end of 2015- just need to get the husband on board:)
